I found Unagi when she was being held prisoner at my vet's office in 1992 (I think). She was being used as a blood donor. She was about four months old and had been abandoned there. I was trying to decide whether to adopt her or another cat who had also been abandoned there. Unagi meowed plaintively and seemed to like me and I fell in love with her.
Her name means "eel" in Japanese, although she is a brown mackerel tabby. (Perhaps I should have named her "Saba" instead.) She is sometimes also called "Incipient Motion Detector and Supressor" because she likes to sit on top of things, especially when they are about to move.
Because of her carefree and lighthearted nature she has been called less than bright, but I'm pretty certain that it's an act most of the time.
Unagi cohabitates with Okonomiyaki and Toshiro Mifune (who does not yet have a page).
